Mc Bob's Atom Chainsaw collection I have always had an interest in Australia's own chainsaw the" Atom" Anyway mainly because it was an Australian designed saw produced in Australia it is well worth being preserved whether it was good or bad as some reports have mentioned and only being produced for around 4 years. 1972-1976. Atom Industries produced 5 different models as far as i have been able to assertain these being the 704, 705, 706, 708, 709. Note models were produced as a basic, uncushioned and cushioned chainsaw with an auto oil pump as standard and with a manual oil pump over-ride on the better models. There was no model 707 as sometimes mentioned in some catelogue's. The saws were produced at 23 Reynolds st, Balmain. New South Wales Australia. Later Atom moved to 5 Fred St Lilyfield where they are now located. |

Over the next few months i'll endevour to piece together some of the Atom chainsaw
story as i feel these saws are worth remembering as their apart of Australia's
history and although the saws didn't continue Atom's other products do. |

The Atom bore shown above is a modified Solo borer that was available in the time
frame as the Solo Rex but it had a rather large alloy mount, something that Atom
changed allowing less weight and easier fit up to more types of Chainsaw Brands |

Sometime's there's a mix up in colour schemes making identification of the Atom chainsaws
a little awkward this would have been caused by the eventual hardship
in obtaining spare parts as the saw was only produced for approxiately four years
|
Note There was no model 707 produced by Atom Industries |
