To the land of milk and honey. Placerville USA Oct 7-8th 2006

Well fellas i'm back.

Wow what a trip with 8 days of mind blowing experiances, I departed Australia on the 4th of October as planned and arrived in LA the same day the magic was just starting to happen, i stayed with a young fella called Jared Plourde in Orange county for the 8 days and used his home as the point of departure to meet numerous people i had been writting to over the previous twelve months.

First problem arose when i opened my mouth and spoke it is amazing that two countries who speak the same language can sound so different, so Jared was on standby to translate as needed so you American guys could follow my Aussie way of communicating mind you and i thought you fellas spoke kinda funny but judging by the smiling and empty looks you guys were left speakless.

The first couple of days involved getting our Mac hotsaw sorted out by Steve O'Hara a Mac Guru also of Orange County and a very cluey fella indead.

Mc Bob and Steve O'Hara in his flawless workshop.
Friday night involved clearing the LA traffic and travelling north to Placerville for the saw competition and a bunch of very nice people we got to meet Art Martin a Guru when it comes to race chain we meet his wife Marita who still competes in the jack and jill crosscut events man can she cook. Both Art and Marita took great care of us and we stayed overnight with them on the Saturday night of the events.

Both Mike and Jon Rupely catered for us over the weekend with the family offering me $ 50-00 to take the mother home with me to Australia pity but i couldn't fit her in my travel bag Damm.
The photo line-up Art Martin, Mc Bob, Jon Rupely and Robert Andrews who owns the Predator V8.
I run some of Mike Rupely saws including a SP125 fitted with a 101 kart engine and got a fourth place in the hotsaws on the Saturday i also won the longest distance so i had a little pocket money which covered our fuel for the trip.

Above a picture of Jared and the Mac we run but we had problems so the saw wasn't shared for the events as it decided it wasn't going to play ball and threw up a lot of gremlins during the course of the two days and although it was fast it didn't allow us to show it's full potential pity.

Anyway i had a great time and on my return to LA i was intriduced to many more of Jareds friends who had an interest in what we were doing along with looking at Hotrods and modded cars the 8 days soon disappeared and i was on my way home.

I'll do my best to return next year as i have made a lot of new friends and i would luv to enjoy their company again.

Myself running Mike Rupely's 101 powered Mac SP125.
Mc Bobs run giving me a time of 7.70 and fourth place mind you first place time was not that much faster.

Mc Bob.
