The introduction of the PM1000 into Australia seen this as McCulloch's new big saw at 100cc, personally i sold many of these being a great sale especially to those farmers wanting a big saw to rip fence posts a job they done exceptionally well giving many many years of dependable service.

Not long after there release intial problems included poor auto oilers and fine saw dust getting through the origional filters and causing problems with wear and a build up in the oil pump gear .... both problems were soon overcome Australian hardwoods produced a very fine saw dust.

Most of this model i sold with 24" bars and .404 pitch chains.
All the early models released in Australia had a half wrap front handle.
The later versions had a 3/4 wrap and a brace from the front handle to the rear of the pistol grip
.
All PM1000 came with both auto oiling and a manual thumb operated oil pump
.

These saws with take the large mount cutter bar of the SP125 with spacers for the difference in bar stud size
Fuel mixture ratio is 40-1

Only the later P100's and Super P100's had the handle brace
I pulled the manual and automatic oilers on my PM 1000 and found the o-rings were as follows:

ID OD CS
5/32 9/32 1/16 Manual Oiler
7/32 11/32 1/16 Automatic Oiler

Standard BUNA-N (Nitrile 70) o-rings work excellent
Handle braces Early PM1000 and P100's were not fitted with a brace from the front to the rear handle i don't personally know when the upgrade took place but i have seen later PM1000, P100 and Super P100's along with the Jonsereds 1020 fitted with them.

If you look at the provision for a decompressor the casting has it but its not drilled theres even a top shroud with a rubber bung where it would be fitted but no decompressor button.
P100 with the problematic Partner Thyrister electronic ignition.
Airfilters for the Australia PM1000 where changed soon after the saws release as the european filters proved hopeless at keeping Australian hardwood fine sawdust from being ingested into the engines.

Use the double flocked air filter
At long last an answer

The Differences are
The Super P100 has a chainbrake
a wrap around handle and
2 spiked bumpers
PM1000 later version notice the brace from the front to the rear handle
Early PM1000 no handle brace but had chainbrake
